AI development program
In 2022, Tehnopol, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, launched an AI development program with the aim of helping Estonian companies adopt AI solutions. This initiative aims to boost their competitiveness and ensure the sustainability of the Estonian economy in the future.
The AI development program is structured into three parts:
- AI Development Marathon: Green, health, educational technology, and other data-intensive companies, including industrial enterprises, are invited to participate in developing an AI component for their businesses. The goal is to connect companies in need of AI solutions with providers, fostering collaborative AI-based project plans. Development marathons occur twice a year, in February (Tallinn) and August (Tartu).
- AI Accelerator: Tehnopol’s Startup Incubator welcomes 10 startups dedicated to developing AI applications within their products or services. The AI accelerator program runs from April to September and accommodates a total of 10 companies.
- AI-Based Pilot Projects in Companies: Teams that complete the AI development marathon have the opportunity to present their project ideas to an expert panel, which selects the best pilot projects and grants separate funding for their implementation. The funding ranges from 25,000 to 75,000 euros, with over half a million euros being allocated in total throughout the year. Expert panels for evaluating pilot projects convene in a similar manner to the AI development marathons, in February (Tallinn) and August (Tartu).
