Smart City event: Nordic Edge Expo

The largest Smart City event in the Nordics is going to take place 25-27 September in Stavanger, Norway.

Nordic Edge Expo is a three-day conference covering Smart City topics like mobility, education, health, energy and renewables, governance, infrastructure, architecture, media, art, safety and citizen involvement.

Nordic Edge Expo is also a large three-day exhibition showcasing new technological solutions that will make cities and communities smarter and greener.

Below is a program from the conference, which would be interesting for city coordinators to join:

Thursday 27th of September 09.00-11.00: Smart City and Community (SCC01)

A dual presentation from Light house,- & follower city project coordinators versus EU policy makers followed by City coordinators responsible for implementing large scale smart city and energy saving solutions within their cities.

During the first hour you will hear about Trial, Innovate and Replicate. Lessons learned from Europe ‘s Smart City Lighthouse Projects in a European context.
While during the second hour the City coordinators will talk about more practical cases:

  • What has to happen to move from successful smart city pilots to mainstreaming smart city planning and investments?
  • Which projects and solutions are interesting to scale-up and replicate? And which ones are not at all?
  • What are necessary instruments, regulations and supporting actions to help cities and companies to continue implementing smart solutions and smart investments?

Thursday 27th of September 13.30-16.00: Internal workshop

Main idea for this workshop is to strengthen the ties between city coordinators/cities, to create a platform for them where they can discus mutual learnings and exchange gained knowledge. The hope for the Stavanger team is that this initiative will be followed up by partner SCC01 municipalities all over Europe and collaboration continues beyond the project period.

The 6 city coordinators of the morning panel session will present one or two specialities (of the city), something that went really well and will focused on:

  • The learning and best practices.
  • What did it bring the city/ region how will they take this forward, after their project time?
  • How are you going to exploit it?
  • Leading the way towards the EC’s CSA Tender which will seek to continue SCC1 activities to “institutialize” the excellent collaboration

Friday 28th of September 8.30.00-14.00: Replication workshop

The Cross SCC01 Replication Workshop organized in collaboration with INEA and European Commission. We invite all Follower Cities, Lighthouse Cities and Observer Cities/City Interest Groups who are planning to replicate/scale-up Smart City Solutions.

This will be an excellent opportunity for private and public partners to develop and discuss solutions and technologies towards replication and procurement (round tables). Business Partners and city representative will be invited to share their experiences and expertise with the participating cities.

This will be a follow up to the Replication Workshop organized on 26th January, Brussels. The aim is to support cities planning to procure specific Smart City Solutions to overcome their barriers.

Along with Follower Cities, the audience will be extended to Lighthouse cities and Observer Cities(City Interest Group) to enable large scale knowledge exchange which is multidirectional.
