Tehnopol tenant company Cybernetica was awarded the Baltic Innovation Prize at a gala dinner organized in the honor of the 20'th anniversary of the Baltic Assembly during the 30'th meeting of the Baltic Assembly and 17'th meeting of the Baltic Council on Friday, November 24, 2011. Issued by the Baltic Assembly and the Baltic Association of Science/Technology Parks and Innovation Centres (BASTIC), the certificate accompanying a bronze statuette uses the wording "for outstanding achievement in innovation and new technologies, as well as strengthening cooperation of the Baltic states in innovation and technological development". The particular product that gained the victory over state-of-the-art security systems from Latvia and renewable energy systems from Lithuania was a VoIP based voice and data communication solution for professional application in the marine navigation safety infrastructure.
Within the last two years Cybernetica AS, an Estonian Industrial Member of IALA ,have successfully completed deployment of a number of marine communication systems utilizing digital network-centric Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) based access in several countries in co-operation with global and local partners. While development of the „VHF for VTS" system for the Vessel Traffic Services operators was started few years ago, it has been further refined, brought to maturity for international applications and implemented to cover the Romanian Black Sea coastal area (VHF and MF/HF), the Bulgarian Black Sea coastal area (only VHF by this date), and the Gdansk region in Poland (VHF) within last two years. A project for the Azerbaijan Caspian Sea GMDSS first phase A2 (MF/HF) as well as part of AI -VHF in Baku surroundings and Baku VTS VHF communication is currently in the implementation phase while a deployment in Latvia is practically installed.
For the Cybernetica team, this is just one of the many successful innovative projects that has received a deserved acknowledgement beyond the circle of users.
